Argentina Passes Gay Marriage Law

Last night felt like New Year's Day as I waited up all night to hear the vote on Argentina’s Gay marriage vote. It was passed by a margin of 33-27. Argentina is now among the growing list of nations that allow gay marriage. It is also the third country this year to do so, with Portugal and Iceland being the other two. Argentina is the first Latin American Country to pass Gay Civil Marriage. It is expected the new law will take place once it is signed by Argentina’s President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner who stated:

The fact that there was talk of a war against God, for example, showed a radicalization that was not positive in any way.

It is refreshing to see a no nonsense, practical, rational and fair view by someone whose job is to represent all of the people. It is a lesson that America is slowly learning.

I thought it fitting that I post a video I took while at the Heritage of Pride’s Summer stage rally in NYC: “Let the Sunshine in” sung by the cast of “Hair”.

It is indeed a sunny day for the LGBT community and our supporters. Let the Sun of equality keep shining!
