Harry Reid To Bring DADT To Senate Floor For Vote

Senator Harry Reid (D-NV)said he will (in all probability ) be bringing DADT repeal up for vote tonight on the floor of the Senate. Senator Reid says he believes he has the votes needed to end the unfair “Don’t ask Don’t Tell” law which has been in force since 1993. There are however a few more steps to be taken before tonight. The most important I can imagine is to get as many people as we can behind the repeal of DADT.

President Barack Obama who yesterday announced a tax deal to extend all tax cuts for 2 years with the Republicans, is said to be concentrating highly on repealing DADT. Secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen are reaching out as well to the undecided Senators to make a decision. The recently released report by the Pentagon on ending the law has been a major factor in bringing it’s repeal to the floor again.

Human Rights Campaign President (HRC)President Joe Solmonese sent out an email emphasizing:
So now, it's up to us. We've got to pressure wavering senators and give those supporting repeal the public backing they need to keep the Senate in business
Please call your senators NOW at (202) 224-3121 and demand that "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" must be repealed now, before the newly elected Republican House takes over.

It is especially important to call Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) at (202) 224-2152, Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) at (202) 224-2854, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) (202) 224-6665 and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) (202) 224-2523. You can however, just dial the (202)-224-3121 number and be connected.

This is our best shot at repealing DADT so that our service members can fight for America with equality and open dignity! Lets do our part!
