One Step Closer To Equality With Treasury Department Ruling

Today the majority of married gays and lesbians who are legally married can breathe a little easier.

In what is a good fallout of the United States Supreme Court's ruling  on DOMA (The Defense of Marriage Act) The Treasury Department has stated that all gay/lesbian married couples will be able to file as such for 2013.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced:

“Today’s ruling provides certainty and clear, coherent tax filing guidance for all legally married same-sex couples nationwide. It provides access to benefits, responsibilities and protections under federal tax law that all Americans deserve. This ruling also assures legally married same-sex couples that they can move freely throughout the country knowing that their federal filing status will not change"

It seems that the many whom like myself got married and now live in a state that does not recognize their marriage have even more reason to fight. Texas and fighting fit LGBT rights in Texas just got off to a great start for me. Here's to the fight! Or as I like to say on my Twitter page: Equality Strengthens!
